CALVIN NYE
Artist / Writer / Spctrum Advocate I was born in Ventura, California, on February 28, 1989, and raised in an artistic family. I was named after the famous comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes," which inspired me to pursue a career as a comic artist. In 2011, I earned my BA in Art with a focus on Art History. In 2010, I self-published a comic called "Ricky the Fangirl Killer," and currently, I am working on the Joe Hero comic series. My passion is creating new comics for people to enjoy. Another interesting fact about me is that I am on the autism spectrum, specifically with high-functioning autism. Despite limited resources and the support provided to me, such as the 504 plan, I have achieved full inclusion in society. I prefer not to rely on these aids as much as possible. The Joe Hero story combines elements of my own experiences and upbringing with a superhero twist. I have had the privilege of working as an artist assistant to the renowned comic artist Howard Chaykin. I have received credit for my contributions to his works, including the last five issues of Satellite Sam, The Shadow: Midnight in Moscow, and various others since 2022. Illustration and comic work have been instrumental in shaping who I am today, and I am determined to continue creating new comics for others to enjoy.
